BOY DROWNED.
Per Press Association. WAIMATE, last night. James Douglas, aged seven and a half years, son of J. F. Douglas, of Wailiao Downs, was drowned on Sunday. afternoon, in the Waihao river.. The boy, got on to the thin ice, and the ice gave way, and he went under. His sister gave the alarm, and several men who were about 200 yards away, rushed to the spot, and saw the boy clinging to the ice, but before they could get to him, the unfortunate boy was drowned. At the inquest to-day, the jury returned a verdict of accidentally drowned,
