Later,—At the wool sales good merinos sold well. Competition was eager. Top prices were realised for New Zealand crossbreds. The sales included : Woole« rina 20 3-Bd, Hill River IOJd. Talpon, Panikau 7gd. Up to date 126,604 bales have bean catalogued, and 116,128 sold, P«c Press Association, Wellington, last night. The Department of Industries and j Commerce has received the following cablegram from the Agent-General, dated the 18th :—“ Mutton market firm, with a hardening tendency. The average prices to-day of Canterbury brands is 3gd per lb, Dunedin, Southland, and Wellington Meat Export Company 3-Jd, other North Island brands 3gd, River Plate mutton 3 3-Bd. Lamb is quiet and steady at prices cabled last week. The beef market is dull. The average prioe to-day of hindquarters is 4Jd, forequarters 2gd. The butter market is steady, with a mode* rate demand. To-day’s quotations are: New Zealand 93s per cwt., Danish 101 s, Siberian 88s, Canadian 91s. The cheese market is very slow. The price of New Zealand to-day is nominally 555, Canadian 48s. The hemp market is quiet and steady at the quotations of last week. There is no alteration in the cocksfoot market. The market for crossbred wool is firm, with au upward tendency. Merino Is steady,
