The speakers in the Council were Hons. Jones, Ormond, Pitt, and in the House Messrs Arnold, Lang, Flatman, Bollard, Mills, Alison, Willis.

CLUB CHARTERS,

Mr Fowlds introduced Messrs French, Jenkins, and White, representing the NoLicense party in Auckland, to Sir Joseph Ward. The deputation laid before the Minister a resolution passed at a recent no-license convention in Auckland, expres sing strong dissatisfaction at the failure of the Commission appointed to inquiie into the working of the Auckland electoral office to make any recommendations, and urging that something should be done during the session to remove the feeling of insecurity which they held still existed with regard to the administration of the office. The deputation also urged the adoption of the electoral rights system. ' Sir Joseph Ward assured the deputation that steps would be taken to ensure confidence as to the registration of electors, and to provide facilities for every qualified elector to get on the roll. The deputation also congratulated Sir Joßeph Ward on the cancellation of the club charters at Ashburton, and urged that clubs be included in the local option provisions of the Licensing Act.
