In New Zealand, where Mr Seddon’s surpluses are as regular as the lambing season, or the hottest day for forty years, or the giant gooseberry, it is hard to understand the utterly staggered frame of mind, which the Victorian surplus has produced in English commercial ciroles. If Victoria had shown a surplus of 2s 6d, it would have been an object of intense awe, and if Mr Seddon does not want to be obscured, he had better wake up. Victoria seems to have made such a deep impression, that Mr Seddon will have to announce a surplus of a few millions to keep his end up.— Truth.
Apparently Mahuta has become so im* pressed with his own Importance and the immensity of his digDity that he has serious doubts whether he ought to lower himself by mixing with the common herd of politicans at all.
