At a meeting attended by the Premier and other members of the Cabinet, many members of Parliament, and leading citizens, it was decided to form a national fund of A‘lo,ooo to secure the proper representation of Queensland at the Federal elections. The speeches made strongly condemned Bir Edmund Burton and the Government Were urged to the necessity of supporting candidates opposed to Socialistic legislation. Mr Philp said it was a bad thing that a small minority in the Federal Parliament should control the majority. He would vote for the Reid Government, as no Government would be worse than that of Sir Edmund Barton’s. The sum of 122000 was subscribed and promised.
