WaDganui, last night,

A public trial of the new fire engine imported for the fire brigade took place this afternoon, in the presence of a iarge number of people. The engine, which is only a motor engine, in Australia cost £IOOO, and is capable of pumping 24,000 gallons of water per hour. The water was thrown about twenty feet above the flagpole of the new post office.
