The City Council this evening passed a motion congratulating Mr Wigratn on being called to the Legislative Council CHRISTCHURCH ABATTOIRS. The City Council estimates the cost of abattoirs will be £19,685, without a cool chamber. Plans and estimates will be prepared for the latter, which it is proposed to ph-ce in the city where it will be easily available for butchers. MR SEDDON’S BUTCHER SHOPS, The Canterbury Trades and Labor Council passed a motion approving of the proposals of tiie I'-emier to take up the retail distribution of fror.cn meat in the United Kingdom, providing the colony receives a fair share of the profit. The Pro gressive Liberal Association resolved that if distribution is undertaken a share of the profits should be secured' to the colonial revenue.
