A conference of Newcastle mine owners and miners’ representatives to discuss the question of the selling price of coal and the hewing rate appointed a subcommittee representative oi both sides to report at a further meeting. The owners suggested a new agreement with a hewing rate of Is Id on a selling basis of 12s per ton, and a minimum rate of 2s9d with tco selling price at 7s.
