A GRACIOUS COUNTESS
‘‘AT HOME” ATTENDED BY 2000 PEOPLE. By Telograph—Press Association. Auckland, Saturday.
Ovor two thousand people attended an “At Homo" given by tho Countess of Ruufurly at Government House this after noon, as a public farewell to tbe citizens of Auckland. Tho guests, who included representatives of all classes, were received on arrival by the Governor and Lady Kanfurly, and subsequently in tho ballroom tho Mayor (Hon.E. Mitchelson) presented Lady Kanfuriy with two pictures as a farewell gift from tho people of Auckland. Tho pictures aro by C. F. Goldio, tho wellknown Auckland artist, and consist of a painting of two Maori babies, both typical studios of nutivo life.
Lady Kanfurly, in returning thanks, expressed groat pleasuro in receiving two such fine pictures, which would always bo prized by herself and family. Ludy llanfurly leaves for Now Plymouth and Wellington on Wednesday, and tho Govornor loaves for Wellington on Thursdu,y.
