LYDDITE EXPLOSION.
EXTRAORDINARY EFFECTS,

After further investigation officials declare that seven 0.2 inch shells exploded, representing 322 pounds of lyddite and 3171 pounds of steel. A piece of shell weighing three pounds was carried a mile and a half into Albert Dock.
General Andre, on behalf of the French Army, sent a warm message of sympathy for the sufferers by the explosion. Mr Brodrick thanked him for his great kindness.
