Per Press Association, Christchurch, last night.

An inquest on the child Violet Joy, who died at tho hospital on Thursday, was held to day. The jury returned a verdict that neatii was caused through shock from accidental scalding. At a meeiiug of the Council of the New Zeuland Boxing Association to-riight, it was resolved that whore only three competitors were entered in any class at a tournament the man who drew a bye if ho were beaten in the final should be ordered by the referee, if he thought necessary, to box the loser of the first round for second place. Tho Secretary reported having sent tho rules and information to Masterton and Now Plymouth, where centres were being formed. W. Edwards asked whether the Association would undertake the management of a contest between himself and another professional. Tho Association decided that it would not identify itself with such professional contests. At a meeting of the Drainage Board Mr G. Mclntyro gave notice of motion “ That this Board take tho necessary steps to prooure tho passing of a Bill through Parliament authorising the raising of £IO,OOO by loan for tho purpose of constructing a sedimentation tank in accordance with the engineer’s report, such Bill to include authority to expend portion of tho Christchurch city drainage Joan of £25,000 in preparing additional land at the Board’s farm for treatment and the reception of sewage.”
