ROWS AMONG UNIONISTS AS TO STRIKE PAY. LONDON, June 17. The Amalgamated Society of Engineers directed the Glasgow District Committee to refund one pound per member disbursed during the recent Clyde strike. The Committee having refused, the Amalgamated So-J ciety. thereupon directed the trustees of branches to remit funds to headquarters, or be expelled. The local engineers have threatened to leave the society on the ground that they were misdirected in London in regard to the strike, also owing to tyranny. MOTOR RACE FATALITY, COLLISION WHEN GOING AT 80 MILES AN HOUR. PARIS, June 17. Mr Lorraine Barrow has succumbed to the effects of the injuries received by him when competing in the recent Paris-Madrid motor car race While driving at eighty miles an hour, he tried to avoid a dog, and ran into a tree witii terrific force, receiving terrible injuries.

In a lecture before the Evangelist Church Association, the Rev. Digby Berry criticised some innovations in the Church service introduced by the Bishop. The Bishop, in reply, said that they might protest as long as they liked, 'and he added : “I have the eastward position because I believe it to be right and legal to do so. What is more, I am not going back on what I have said.”
