THANKSGIVING SERVICE KOI THE ASSASSINATIONS.
By Telegraph—Press AssociationCopyright.) BELGRADE, June 17.
Prince Peter’s election to the Kingship ot Servia has evoked enthusiasm in Montenegro.
The Republican minority on the Sktiplchina were silenced by the argument that Russia and Austria would not tolerate a republic.
'l'he army everywhere controls the civilians. The officials and peasantry are overawed and listless. There are indications that. the army is seeking to perpetuate a dictatorship, and make King Peter a
nonentity. It is generally believed that King Peter will grant an amnesty to those connected with the recent conspiracy, fearing trouble. Yesterday, Ministers and members of the Skuptchina, and officers, attended a thanksgiving “To Dcum ” service in the Cathedral. 'Pne Metropolitan congratulated the nation on the restored dynasty. He deplored the necessity for recent events, and thanked and eulogised the army’s action. He invoked the Divine blessing on King Peter. The Skuptchina has granted immunity to the conspirators, King Peter acquiescing. The Metropolitan of Servia rciused a, requiem mass to the kptc Sovereigns. The military party threatened to murder Ihe editor of the Qjk if he advocated a republic. On bis abjuring, he was created Minister ol Justice.
