After considerable negotiation, the Postmaster-General has succeeded in 'arranging with the Commonwealth of Australia for a uniform rate of a penny each on newspapers not exceeding 2(10/, in weight. The existing rate of one penny for the first Am, now applieahie to Queensland, will, therefore, he abolished. WANGANUI, last night,
Mrs George Bullock died this morning after a lengthened illness. Deceased was at one time a partner with her brother, Mr Gilbert Carson, of the Wanganui Chronicle, and was well known throughout the. colony as a clever descriptive writer and as a prominent member of the Women’s Council.
