The burning spirit ran through the streets and sewers, carrying destruction in its train. The flames destroyed a tlourmill, and the fire extended to the lower quarters of the town. Escaping gas in a sewer was ignited, causing a tremendous explosion, which destroyed a private house Seven persons were killed and six injured. The damage caused by the fire amounted to one hundred thousand pounds. ____________
