LICENSING COMMITTEE.

The Licensing Committee met in camera to consider a letter from counsel for the hotelkeepers, asking the Committee to hear an application for extension of the hours to eleven o’clock, The ground of the application was that the Committee’s decision to close at 10 o'clock at the annual meeting’was invalid, as one member of the Committee who was present did not vote, and hence the majority did not decide in favor of 10 o'clock. The Committee this morning would not admit the press or counsel, but afterwards replied to counsel’s letter that they would not entertain the application for ra-hearing, It is understood that counsel will proceeed by way of mandamus to compel the Committee to bear argument on the points raised.
