Tbo Marino Court of Inquiry found that tho Oakland was soaworthy and well found. Tho foundoring was probably caused by tho cargo of coul shifting during Hie heavy weathor. Tho Birksgato brought the captain and ' crow of tho wrcckod barque Lotos from Fiji. Tho captain accounts for tho disaster by being out of his course, owing to the currents and tide setting tho vessel in towards tho reef, which tho barquo struck at night. Sho filled with water. Tho position is dangerous. The crow stood by in boats. Tho barquo capsized during tho night. Tho crow mado Suva harbor in boats, reaching thero in an exhausted condition.
