YESTERDAY’S STOCK SALE.
The Waerenga-a-hika stock sale, conducted by Messrs Dalgety and Co. and Common, Shelton and Co. took place yesterday. There was a large attendance. An entry of 75 head of cattle did not come forward. Bidding was keen, and satisfactory prices were realised for all classes of stock, all entries being cleared excepting about 50 sheep. Cattle : There were 118 head yarded, and all were sold. Heavy-weight bullocks brought £8 10s to £8 14s, medium £8 2a 6d, light-weights £6 15s to £7 10s ; beef cows, £5 5s ; forward cows brought £4 10s, good weaners £2 10s, calveß £1 15s, choice springing heifers £7 17s 6d to £B, 18 month-old steers £3 10s. Sheep : There were 1700 head yarded. One line of 1000 two-tooth wethers brought 11s ; fat wethers brought 13s ; store ewes, 6s to 8s 5d ; butchers’ ewes, 9s 6d to 10s 5d ; hoggets in backward condition, 5a 9d.
Pigs : Porkers brought 30s, weaners os 6d to 8s 6d for small, to 14s for bigger sorts.
