A meeting of the Chumber of Commerce to-night unanimously resolved that the prosperity of Taranaki being mainly dependent on its contribution to the food supply of the United Kingdom, the Chamber warmly sympathises with the suggestion of Mr Chamberlain to foster the trade of the .Empire by preferential tariff. liesolutions were passed urging diversion of the railway lino to prevent running across the main street ; also the completion of tflo Muko and Ohura roads, so as to promote settlement, and urging Iho Harbor Board to proceed with the extension of the works to accommodate the ocean steamers.
