IMPERIAL DEFENCE.
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Received 10.8 p.m., May 27. London, May 27. Sir Gilbert Parker delivered an address at the Australasian Club on the question of Imperial defence. He said that no colony was yet able to stand alone in the matter of naval defence. The majority of colonists recognised their moral obligation to contribute to the Imperial navy. The accumulated wealth of a colony should constitute a reasonable basis of contribution. Australia would do well to accept the Admiralty’s offer.
