EMPLOYMENT BOOK.

By Telegraph—Press Association— Wellington, last night. The President ol the Arbitration Court made some remarks this morning concerning tho importance oi' tho employment book. His Honor said that tho proper keeping of such a book was of great importances to Unions. Under tho terms of the awards made by tho Court it, >vas necessary that Unions should keep q properly posted employment book at a convenient place before preference of employment could ba claimed by members of tho Union. If the book was not properly kept, and not made available to employers, then the Union couid not claim preference for its members over nonunionists. The book could bo easily kept if tbe officers of tho Union would only take the trouble to road tbo conditions set out in tho awards. The Court gave point to the President’s remarks by dismissing a claim for preference because tho employment book had not boon properly kept.
