rmis, May 21. In the Chamber of Deputies M. Combes justified the prohibition of preaching by members of suppressed preaching orders. They were entitled to secularise and obtain ihc same rights as other priests, but secularization must be effective and regular. Ilanna has been sentenced lo death for toe murder of his wife in March last. A man named Hiluiro has been remanded for sentence for bigamy committed in Auckland in March, lsilH. At the outset the judge reserved the question of jurisdiction for the Full Court. Objection was raised that the second marnago look place outside New South Wales. The point was also noted that there was no evidence that New Zealand was a British possession, or that bigamy was a crime there.
An application for a writ of attachment against Laws, bankrupt, a rule absolute was granted, and ordered to lie at his office for ten days. Bankrupt explained that lie had no intention to ilout the order ot the Court to file accounts which are now in course of preparation.
