Thornton, secretary, pre- .« nted the following report:— '* Your Committee, iu presenting tbo annual report, must congratulate ,tlie Club on tiie past season. Although only two matches were played outside the Club, we succeeded in bolding our own on both occasions. The first match was played at Tokomaru on June mb, 1002. against Waipiro, and was won by our boys b,y Bto nil. Tho return match was played at Takapau, and ended in a draw, neither side scoring. Subscription fees were fixed the same as hist year. It was decided to accept the challenge from To!ago Say to piny on May 23rd, at Tokomaru. The secretary was instructed to write to the other clubs on the Const re forming a liugby Union, and to ask them to send delegates to attend a meeting to bo held here on Saturday evening, May 23 rd. On tho motion of Mr Oates, seconded b; Mr Powell, tho secretary was accorded a. nearly vote of thanks for his past year’s work. A voto of thanks to the Chairman terminated the proceedings.

WAIPIRO BAY

Tiie following settlers are being connected by telephone to Coastal post ofiices ; —Messrs Beck and W. Oates, Tokomaru Bay, and Mi ,1. F. I.’oltie, Waipiro Buy. Mr Kelley is also going to erect a private lino from Tokomaru Bay to Waipiro, a distance of eight miles, for Mr Williams. Settlors are deserving of congratulation

Fitzgerald, a summary of bis career in football circles may be of interest to Coastal renders, lie was tho founder of the West Coast ltugby Union, for which lie was secretary for four years. Ho was also secretary of tho \l anganui Football Club for a similar period. Ho represented the West Coast Club against tho English team in 1888, and was selected as a representative of Wanganui in 1889, when they put up a record by winning oiglit representative matches. A few ■years ago, tho rev. gentleman, when in charge of u parish in Wellington, organised a Parish Club, which lie cuacbcd himself. The Club that year, in the third class competition. won by 'il points to nil, and in tiie fourth class competition by 117 points to JIU. He expresses himself as being passionately fond of football, and will always work in its interest. Tiie nows here is very brief, and during the winter mouths is likely to remain so. Owing to heavy nuns and the rivers being in Hood, the concert and dance in aid of the Cricket Club, to bo hold at Tupar:.a, lias been postponed to the 23rd, iu order to enable people from a distance to bo present and give Hie roads a chance to dry. / Too admission is front seats 2s Gd, other seats Is, and Is extra for the dance. Tiie concert committee have spared iieither trouble nor pains iu making arirangemouts for the concert end dance. The post office which is still under tho very able management of Miss Hartley, is now open from 12 to 1 o'clock throughout the week, whereas previously any person wanting the telephone between those hours was urmulc to obtain it. Football enthusiasm has caught on hero as bad as ping pong used to be, and Wednesday. the 2Utb, ought to seo an exciting and wedi-eotitested game between Kuirarcrc and Tuparoa. A meeting was held in the Tolago Bay Hotel on Saturday last to consider the question of the formation (1 a football club. There were 18 persons present, ifr C. E. Smith being voted to the chair. 1 1 was unanimously decided to form a footoall club, to be called the Tolago Bay Football Club. Mr A. Flay will take place on theTolago recreation ground, Tito Kith was set aside as the opening day, and ;>0 players turned up, a good game resulting. There was a fair sprinkling cf onlookers. The club are to play their first match in Toko--I,tarn on the -did, and it should be a very ■'■nod game, although the Tolago team will not have played together till that day, but as a few of them are old, experienced players they possibly will soon feel at home. Some of them, though, arc comrmrativc new chums at the game.
