ADDINGTON MARKET.

Christchurch, last night. There was a fair yarding and a good attendance at the Addington market today. Fat cattle : There were 185 entered, tho bulk heifers and cows, including a good proportion of prime quality. There was keen competition and the market was firmer -than last week, the price of beef ranging from 20s to 30s per lOOib; steers, £7 to £9 19s Gd ; heifers, £5 17s 6J to £10; cows, £5 15s to £9 ss. Fat sheep : The entry was again somewhat limited, and as the butchers were apparently short of stock and bid keenly, prices advanced somewhat. Freezers, wethers, 17s -Id to 20s Id; merinos, unfinished wethers, 14s 7d to 17s ; merino wethers, 10s to 10s; wethers and ewes, 10s 10d to 183 CJ ; butchers' ewes, lla 9J to 18s lid ; merino ewes, 9s Gd to 10s Id. Fat lambs : About 1900 were yarded, but they met with a spirited demand on the part of export buyers. For all pens suitable for freezing prices showed a distinct advance on those ruling in the previous week. Freezers brought 12s Hi to 15s sd, tegs 10s to 18s 4J, butchers’ 1-Js 6d to 14s 91. Pigs : There was a larger entry than usual, and a satisfactory sale. Baconers brought 37s Gd to 00s, c-qual to 41 cl per lb ; porkers 30s to 425, equal to sd; stores, 16s to 25s ; weaners, 5s to 10s.
