DAIRYING IN THE MOTU.
A few years ago anyone would have laughed at the mention of a dairy factory being established in the Motu or within many miles of it. Up to the present year it would not have been considered likely of early realisation. But such excellent pioneering Work has been done by the worthy settlers who have taken up land in that portion of our fertile district, that there is good reason to hope that the industry will beset going on a sound footing in the coming spring. We have ascribed this probability to the worthy settlers, hut it has also been greatly lacilitaled hi the high reputation which one gentleman has justly acquired throughout the district . We refer to Mr Maegregor, I lie founder of the Kia. Ota factory. The settlers have the confidence'that anything that gentleman undertakes will he faithfully carried out, and in negotiating with him, no fear is felt, of subsequent resort to technical points that have not been understood at the outset.., The oh or made to the settlers is a splendid one from both an industrial and husi ness point of view, and considered as a bargain, is certainly a most liberal one. In Mr Hickford, Mr Macgrcgor has selected an agent who has won the esteem of all his fellow-settlers, and on whom the utmost reliance is placed., We have pleasure in congratulating the Motu settlers on the opportunity offered, and would urge them to give the required guarantee at the earliest date possible, so that the project can he taken in hand without delay. While on this subject, we would take the opportunity of specially calling the attention of Coast settlors to the enterprise being shown by the settlers at the Motu, and to recommend that efforts should lie made to enable the Coast, settlers to obtain (lie advantages offered by the dairying industry.
