BRITISH AND FOREIGN BIBLE SOCIETY.
In viow of the celebration of the British and Foreign Bible Society’s one hundredth birthday in March, 1901, a special deputation to cho Australasian Colonial branches has been appointed. They arrived by tlio Sierra at Auckland on Monday last, and arc bolding largely-attended meetings. Bev. Dr McDonald, ex -President of the British Wesleyan Conference, and widely known as an author, a gifted preacher, and talented platform speaker, is timed to arrive at Gisborne from Auckland on Wednesday next. As will be soon by advertisement, a welcome meeting is to bo held in tlio Church of .England .schoolroom the s-iuio overling, His Worship the Mayor in the chair. The following afternoon a drawing-room meeting will he held at tlio Misses AJurico’s. Ac 0 o olooK tlio same evening Bedstone’s brake leaves tho PostOffice for tlio meeting at Ormond, and the following evening for Batiltalii. On faunday morning the rev. gentleman will preach at Wesleyan Church, and there will be a farewell meeting in the afternoon in the Tbeutro Royal.
