Tho Royal visit to Scotland was inaugurated 'with a great welcome and picturesque reception of the King arid Queen on arrival at tho Waverlcy station, Edinburgh, the Duke and Ducncss of Bucc-lauch, Lords Rosebery, Balfour of Burleigh, and most of the great Scottish r./licers of State taking part. The Lord Provost tendered too silver keys of the City, which the King returned. lne RovaliicK drove to Dalkeith Palace. Over half a million gold plate from Buckingham Paineo win transferred to Ilolyrond preparatory to the visit.
