Major Plunkett was unable to return on sighting the enemy, and was eompeliod to fight in the open 12,000 belonging to the Mullah’s main army, who uuoxpeetodly appeared. Major Pluukett W‘as hit oarly in tho fight, and also received a spoar thrust, but fought to tho end. Ho ordered tho romnaot, chiefly of tho Zao tribe, to cut through. They succeedod aftor further losses, and displayed magnificont courage, many being twice wounded.
