Per Press Association; Christchurch, last night

At the telegraph office to-night Mr W. McNiclde, editor of the Ivatipo newspaper, was presented on behalf of the officers of tho Department throughout the colony by Sir J. G. Ward with a silver epergne, silver salvor, and numorons other articlos of plate, and also with a photo shield of tho members of the Board of Appeal. Sir Joseph Ward said tho year had been a record of success in every respect. The telegraph office had established a record in the number of telegrams sent, and tbe post office for tho numbor of letters passed through. Sir Joseph so,id the Katipo was of service in ascertaining the views of officers of the Department.
