Per Press Association. Wellington, last night. At a meeting of tho Board of Eueation, Mr F, Bradey was elected chairman in place of Mr R. Blair, resigned. During a discussion on a technical school, the secretary said that it had not been customary to bring forward the balances on school accounts, but to treat it as a part of the general account. Had the balances been brought forward, the school account would have shown a debit of £18,991 on January Ist. The Inspectors stated that in their recommendations for appointments of pupil teachers who have completed five years' service, and have at the end of the year to leave the Board’s employ, according to the provisions of the Salaries Act, would be given consideration.
At the Supreme Court Edward Gerald was found guilty of attempted theft at Wanganui, and sentence was deferred. Joseph Keen was acquitted of assault and robbery, William Hunciman was sentenced to two and a half years’ imprisonment for forgery, sentence to commence at the expiry of the sentence of twelve months passed on the same prisoner at the beginning of this year.
