IT ADIES AND GENTLEMEN,—In again soliciting your suffrages, I congratulate you on the marked progress which bus characterised GLborne and the surrounding distr cl. Further progression skou.d be our common aim, and this can best be attained by having our town as up-to-date as it is possible to make it as regards the health, comfort, and wellbeing of the community.. Fully appreciating the honor and the respons.biiities of the position which has been conferred on me by my fellow-burgesses, I have tried in the past to do my duty lo the people as a whole. BOROUGH ELECTION. TO THU ELECTORS OF THE BOROUGH OF GISBORNE. 'IT ADiES AND GENTLEMEN, — I have the honor to offer myself as a candidate for your suffrages at the forthcoming Borough election ; and, if elected, shall do my utmost to study the interests of electors and support all practical measures for the progress of the town. I shall strongly support a water and drainage scheme, as being essential to the health of the community. Better street lighting and maintenance is also neecssary, and 1 should support arrangements for obtaining metal from Ivaitacaiahi by rail. I am in favor of a bridge over the Taruheru river at the upper end of the town, thus connecting AYhataupoko and Gisborne. I should consistently see that each por- ■ tiou of 'ho Borough receives its fair share of public expenditure, and advocate all matters tending to advance Gisborne to the foremost rank of colonial town. Should you do mo the honor to elect me as one of your Councillors, it shall be my chief object to study the interests of the ratepayers and the progress of the town in general. I have the honor to be, Ladies and Gentlemen, Yours respectfully, s respecuuny, JOHN COLLEY.

TO THE ELECTORS OF THE BOROUGH OF GISBORNE. r ADIGS AND GENTLEMEN,— nt the forthcoming Election, I submit for your approval the following:—First in importance is water anil drainage. I favor Waihircre and Mr Mcstaycr’s scheme. With regard to bridges, rather than tamper with or widen the Tnruhoru bridge (which will require rodecking in a few years), I am in favor of tiic erection of a bridge at the upper end of tbu town. In dealing with tho question of road motel, I think a great saving could be effected by not only using river metal for side streets, but by tarring main streets one block at a iime, as funds will permit. This has proved successful in other towns where metal is loss costly. As to the butter lighting of the Borough, I think the best and most economical way would be for the Council to purchase the present Gasworks at a remunerative price. I will favor amalgamation with the suburbs, if shown to be for the general welfare, thereby securing increased representation in Parliament. These are, 1 think, the most important questions of the present time, and if you do me the honor to elect mo as one of your representatives, I will use my utmost endeavors to promote the welfare of the Borough as a whole. Your obedient servant, T. MORRISON.

BOROUGH ELECTION. TO THE ELECTORS OF GISBORNE, r 'ADIES AND GENTLEMEN,— I have the honor to oiler myself as a Candidate at the forthcoming Borough Election, and, if returned, shall do my utmost to conserve the interests of the ratepayers. •It will be my chief object to see that the revenue of the Borough is fairly and economically expended. At the beginning of the Council s term a schedule of works for the year should be decided upon, and this should he as far as possible strictly adhered to. Water and Drainage will have my hearty support. In regard to Water, seeing that we have had the very best expert advice, 1 shall fa\or the Waihirere scheme being adopted. I shall be a strong advocate for the better Lighting of the Boiough, and all matters calculated to bring Gisborne to tbc front rank O', colonial towns will have my hearty support. 1 am, Yours faithfully, W. WEBB.
