HOROUGM KLKUTION. TO 'I'll!'; KLKCTORS 01-' Til 10 BOROUGH Ob' GISBORNK. AMD GJfK j'.Gi- HEX,.... I have ti; honor to offer nijßflf as a candidate tor your suffrages at tin- forthcoming Borough Kh-otiou ; ami, if elected, shall do my almost (o -turiy the mrenrts rf elec tow and support all practical measures for the progress of the town. I shall strongly support a water and drains go .scheme as being essential to the health of ?h" community. Butter street lighting and maintenance is also necessary, and l shoals supp.rt arrangement! fur obtaining metal from Kaitara-ah isv rail. I I am in favor of a bridge over the’ Tarnheru rivet at the upper mil of the town, thus connecting Whataupoku and Gisborne. I should consistently see that each portion of the Borough receiver it: fair share of public expenditure, and advocate all matters tending to advance Gisborno to the foremost rank of colonial town Should you do rue the honor in elect me as one of your Councillors, it shall tie my chief object to study the interests of the ratepayers and the progress of the town in general. I have the honor to b-\ Ladies and Gentlemen, Yours resp; ctfuliv, JOHN COLLEY.
TO THE ELECTORS OE THE BOROUGH OF GISBORNE. Ladies and gentlemen,— In gnliciti-'g your support at tho forthcoming Election, I submit for your approval tho following: —First in importance is water and drainage. ! favor Waibinre and Mr iUestuver’s scinme. With regard to bridges, rather than tamper with or widen the Tarulieru bridge (which will require rtdocking in a few years), I am in favor of the erection of a bridge at tho upper end of tho town. In dealing with the question of road metal, I think a great saving could be effected by not only using river metal for side stmts, but by tarring main streets one block at a t.ime, as funds will permit. This has proved successful in other towns where metal 13 less costly. As to the better lighting of the Borough, I think the best and most economical way would be for the Council to purchase the present Gasworks at a remunerative price. I will favor amalgamation with the suburbs, if shown to be for the general welfaie. thereby securing increased representation in Parliament. These are, I think, the most important questions of the present time, and if you do me the honor to elect me as one of your representatives, I will use my utmost endeavors to promote the welfare of tho Borough as a whole. Your obedient servant, T. MORRISON.
BOROUGH ELECTION 7 . TO THE ELECTORS OE GISBORNE. At -the he,ginning of the Council’s term a schedule of works for the year should he decided upon, and this should be as far as possible strictly adhered to. Water and Drainage will have my hearty support. In regard to Water, seeing that we have had the very best expert advice, I shall favor the Waihirere scheme being adopted. I shall be a strong advocate for the better Lighting of the Borough, and all matters calculated to bring Gisborne to the front rank o' colonial towns will have my hearty support. I am, Yours faiUn'ullv, W. WEBB.
