The exciting news that comes day by day concerning the .Balkans has a tendency to pall on 1 lie public mind ; the cry of “Wolf !” has been made so often that the existence of ;l wolf is doubted. The people of Great Britain look on with no great concern, and lind a greater interest in the attempt to trade on the siuiplicily of the Government with the Bagdad railway scheme. In these days, the Imperial Government invariably gets the worst of the deal, and judging by the comments of the London Times, there has been gross blundering in regard to the position taken up as to the railway. The. object is to make a eatspaw of Britain, to suit tlie money-making schemes of foreign capitalists, who have set forth such tilt outrageously one-sided proposal as no business person would dream of entertaining. The disclosures made by the Times should result in a very strong agitation setting in against the bartering away of the rights of the nation without any correspond-
