There was fine weather for oho Autumn Meeting, about 4000 people being present, including Che Premier and Sir Joseph Ward. Shrapneil scored a very easy win in the Thompson Handicap, and put up a new record for the race. Toe Challenge Stakes was robbed of interest owing to the scratching of Achilles, who met with an accident on the previous evening. Aide-de-Camp, who feli in the Hurdles, broke a leg and had to be destroyed. The following ore the results : Waiwetu Handicap.—General Symons f Pure Silver 2, Narcotic £5. Scratched: Tsaritza and Shackle. Good race. Won by a length. Time 1.29 l-ti, divs. To and ls> Siiverstreain Hack Handicap.—Wind 1, Hydrant 2, Hamua 3. All started. Good race. Won by a length. Time 1.48 15, divs T 4 os and £3 os Od. Thompson Handicap.-Shrapnel 1, Terrapin 2, Cannio Chiel 3. Scratched: Pampero, Porirua, Golden Vein, General Symons. JFrom a good start Ostiak and Shrapnel led ior halt a mile, when the former died away, and the latter moving on strongly won very easily by live lengths. Time 1.41 2-5. Divs, £o Is ami £3 bs. Hurdles.— Lady Bell 1, Bellman 2, Boko 3. All started. Bellman and Lady Bell wore in the load until reaching the straight, when the latter drew out and wort comfortnbly. Aide-de-camp fell. Time, 3.21 3D. Divs £o 3s and £1 13s Od. Hcretaunga Handicap.—Porirua 1, Kelburn 2, Rubin 3. Also started : Benefactor and Tikarawo. Won easily by three lengths. Time, 1.58 1-5. Div. £2 IDs Gd. Challenge Stakes—Treadmill 1, Red Gauntlet 2. The only starters. Won easily by 11 lengths. Time, 1.30. Div., 4s« Tinakori Hack Race.—Wind 1, Capnlot 2 Waitohi 3. Scratched : Ballarat, Catsp’avv, Waipai, Australasia, Linkloek, and Serguis. The jockeys of Nell Gwynnc and Royal Blue camo off early in the race. Wind won easily by two lengths. Time 1.17 2-5, divs. £4 IDs and TO 13s 6d. Railway Handicap.—Tsaritza 1, Lollali 2 Petrovna 3. Scratched : St. Denis, Ostiak, Red Gauntlet, Exmoor, Pure Silver, and Livonia. Tsaritza won after a good race by a length. Time 1.16 1-5, divs. £‘2 5s and T 1 3s Od. The sum of JE10.3G5 was put through the totalisator, or TBl2 more than on the first day of last year.
