TOD, Matav/hero. TO TIIIO ELECTORS OF THE BOROUGH OF GISBORNE. Ladies and gentlemen,— in fcolioit'u g your support at tlie forthcoming Election, I submit for your approval tne following:—First in importance is water and drainage. 1 favor Waihirero and Mr Me-tnyer’s scheme. With regard to bridges, rather than tamper with or widen the Teruheru bridge (which will require redacting in a few years), l am in favor o£ the erection of a bridge at the upper end of tbe town. In dealing with the "question of road metal, I think a great savng could be effected by not only using river metal for side streets, but by tairing main streets one block at a time, as funda will permit. This has proved successful in other towns where metal is less costly. As to the belter lighting of the lloroupb, 1 think the best and most economical way would be for the Council to purchase the present Gasworks at a remunerative price. X will favor amalgamation with the suburbs, if shown to be for the general welfare, thereby securing increased representation in Parliament. Thr.se are, 1 think, the most important questions of the present time, and if you do me the honor to elect me as ouu of your representatives, I will use my utmost endeavors to promote the welfare of the Borough as a whole. Tour obedient servant, T. MORRISON.
BOROUGH ELECTION. TO TIIE ELECTORS OF GISBORNE. A OIL'S AND GENTLEMEN,— I have lhe honor to oiler myself as a Candidate at the forthcoming Borough Election, and, if returned, shall do my utmost to conserve the interests of the ratepayers. It will be my chief object to see that the revenue of the Borough is fairly and economically expended.
At the beginning of the Council's terjn a schedule of works for the year should be decided upon, and this should Le as far as possible strictly adhered to. Water and Drainage will have my hearty support. In regard to Water, seeing that we have had the very best expert advice, I shall favor the Waihirerc scheme being adopted. I shall he a strong advocate for the better Lighting of the Borough, and all matters calculated to bring Ctishornc to the front rank or colonial towns will have my hearty support.
