THE NUANUI CASE.

'.y bis Honor after the trial slating the facts of the case. Mid asking him publiciy, as an act oi justice, to correct Ins disparaging remarks. Failing to hear of his having done so, I have to request you, ill 1 Lditor, to do so. His Honor, who said I did not conceive tile uutute of tiic injury—did conceive its r.atu v. and formed a wrong conception inasmuch as ho imagined, apparently, tout tiii injury caused a partial fracture of

the skull —when no fracture ever existed at nil. If this had any weight with his Honor when sentencing the prisoner, it is certainly rather hard on the prisoner that bis Honor, who had kept me aii day in court as a witness, should not have gone to the trouble of putting me in the box when he frankly admitted that he did not under-

stand my evidence, but should rather publicly disparage me under the protection of the position that- he held in court.

Tiie full facts, as - I have since written to his Honor, regarding the injured man were these : He came to my surgery two days after the accident-. His head had been bandaged up. I was just leaving my house to attend to anmgeiii- call. After having a look at the wound 1 asked the man — about whose case there was nothing urgent —to return in about three hours time when I would fix him up properly. lie went away, and I never saw nor heard further oi him for about ten days, when lie returned with the wound dirty and suppurating. I sent him into the Hospital, and he rapidly gut better. A small piece of bone, however, that had become exposed in the wound, died, and subsequently came away. This, however, would not probably have occurred had he returned to me as directed, and not neglected himself. Because a piece of bone comes away, I would have His Honor know that it dues not- follow that toe sku.l was fractured ; moreover, that some people, and I am one of them, i xpect justice from a Court of Justice.—i am, etc., Payiij Moititisox.
