WAF.RENGA-A-HIR.-i. COLLEGE V TE RAU COLLEGE.

A friendly match between tho above was played in ihe Domain on Saturday, when the country team, hating tho great advantage over their opponents of constant practice and of having won three matches recently, secured an easy victory. Revs. .Jennings aud Ghuttertun captained their respective sides and set the lads a good example of careful play with a straight hat, but Brown, Poi, and Douglas for the town, and African and Rua, who put on 25 for the ninth wicket, lor ihe country, and Morell in the 2nd innings, wero the only ones to show any form. Kero is an old hand at the game and invariably comes out on top in these matches, Haiti howled well for To 14au and performed the bat trick, and had he been well backed up at the other wicket tho result would have been different. Messrs Jennings and McGruther took most of tho town wickets, and Mr Obaltorton as wicket-keeper made the batsmen careful about keeping within the crease. Tho fielding on both sides was very loose, and one To Rau lad, when he dropped an easy catch, caused some fun when he proceeded to pick up tho bail and shy it down hard at his own i'cet, venting at the same time some inaudible blessing on the unfortunate ball. A liberal distribution of pears was made during tho match, and at the end an adjournment to the College, where a substantial hoc dinner awaited both teams and was heartily relished.
