A substantial proof of the wisdom of establishing Maori Councils and vesting them with powers, is afforded in the public notification by the President of the Aotea Maori Council that 58,580 acres of Maori land will be offered for lease for ill years with right of renewal. The land is situated 45 miles up the Wanganui river, in the Ohotu block, and about six miles south of ltiaetihi.
