Tin: following is a continuation of the articles by 10.M.D. : Tc Rcinga Falls should lie a favorite resort of tourists, as it is of caiuI'dng parties from town in the summer. it is, indeed, a charming spot, unique in several aspects. The falls would he at the junction of (he Ruatikuri and Mangaroa rivers, the hitler widening as it passes Tiniroto, and with grand curves descending to the junction, where, gal tiering force. in its descent, it narrows, and liowiug under precipitous papa dill's, wooded at the. summit, falls over picturesque terraces of papa, presenting a mod teautiful spectacle, leaping over the rocks in huge cascades. The papa formation here is most interesting, dazzling white in the sunshine, wii.ii charming shades of cream and brown, deepening to almost blackness in the shadows of the great rocks, soft, Warm, ami .slippery to the feet, and everywhere containing charming pools which incite a dip. The warmth of
the sunshine, concentrates on these rocks and pools, the thunder of water falls is in the air, overhead are cliffs crowned with lovely bush. Altogether ii is a most delightful spot, from which it is difficult to break away.
The country round has been planted Wjtli fruit, trees, especially with cherries. which cover the lands about, having spread of themselves by seed and sucker. Any quantity can lie obtained, the Maoris, however, retai-
ning rights of property, which may lie overcome by gift or coin. They come around and watch the traveller with great interest, offering produce and canoes or services.
The Reinga Fails is the proposed source of electricity to provide light and power for Gisborne and the surrounding districts. Nature has undoubtedly provided the force in these
steady, unfailing fails. it remains for man's energy to apply it and make use of her liberal gift. The engineering difficulties are not great, as the i’< iree could with comparative ease he conveyed by wire along the route, which is already adapted to the telegraph and telephone. Some people also mgr that a much-needed waU*r supply for the town and suburban villages could he best obtained by pipes from the Tc Reinga Falls, which are but thirty miles" or thereabouts front Gisborne, with a siea,iv
downward grade. The engineering difficulties would not he great in comparison with similar works undertaken elsewhere.
