SUSPICIOUS FIRE.
MAN COMMITTED FOR TRIAL,
Per Press Association Auckland, last night,
In connection with n dwolling-houso tiro at Newmarket on March 17, when a man assisting to put out the flames was killed by a falling chimney, John Hamilton, tenant of ono of tho houses destroyed, was charged at tho Police Court to-day with wilfully sotting fire to it. Accused was committed for trial. Tho furniture was insured for .£l5O. Captain Field, fire surveyor, said ho was of opinion that tho furniture claimed for would not go into the rooms of tho house unless it wore piled on the floors. Defouco was reserved.
