Tho rivor Mackay is in high flood, and it is still rising. Tho north-east portion of tho town is under water to a depth of threo or four feot.
The latost news from Townsvillo is that the woathor is clearing. The flood last night was not so serious as anticipated. All tho country beyond tho Causeway was submorgod. All traffic, including that of the railway, was suspended owing to a wash-away. There is much distress.
