Waihi, last night) In the licensing oleetion for the Bay of Plenty district the moderate party have a strong load. The returns to come cannot affect the resiiH.

Stratford, last night.

As the result of the licensing poll four moderates and ono prohibitionist will be returned. Three small returns are to come, and there is the possible substitution of one more prohibitionist.

Hawera, last night.

The moderates were elected for the Lieousing Committee by a fair margin. Christchurch, last night.

A fair amount of interest was taken in the Hurunui election, which resulted as follows C. D. Mason 421, G. W. Forbes 410, C. McNaught 405, J. Brown 375, G. V/. Crumpton 361, M. Dalziell 352, John AUp 351, B. Coleman 347, G. Benner 342, 0. Haswell' 337, R. Leggett 219. Four small returns aro yet to come in, but are unlikely to affect the result. Mason, McNaught, and Brown are tho moderates, and Forbes and Crampton tho temperance nominees.

Later—The figures for tho Hurunui Licensing Committee election aro : G. W. Forbes (prohibitionist) 454, C. 13. Mason (Moderate) 450, 1\ McNaught (M.) 440, J. Brown (M.) 107, G. W. Crampton (P.) 387 and M. Lalziel (P.) 357 tie for fifth place, and will be settled by tho casting vote of the returning officer. Other votes were : Allen (P.) 380, Coleman (M.) 376, Kener (I.) 369, Haswell (P.) 360, Liggett (M.) 237

Invercargill, last night. For Awarua the moderates are leading by a narrow majority, but returns to come may alter the position.
