ONLY ONE DAY MORE.

But one day more —Saturday, March 28th, and “ The Times ” sale of The Century Dictionary & Cyclopaedia & Atlas will be discontinued ; the opportunity to secure the great oyclopLcdia of words, treasury of facts and complete atlas of the world, in 10 Royal Quarto volumes, at half the publishers’ price will be at an end. The applications received are being dealt wi h as rapidly as possible, and subscribers who havo not yet received an acknowledgement of their remittances are | informed '.that their cheques will not be passed to’the bankers until the receipts I havo been posted. Books stocked in Wellington for prompt delivery. The result of the issue by “ The Times ” of Tue Century has been most gratifying, and it rests with readers who have not yet filed their applications to do so to-day, if possible, and avert the disappointment which may attend those who wait until the eleventh hour. After March 2Sth, no more’orders can be accepted by “The Times.” . It would be easy to fi'l an entire issue of this paper with a description of Tue Century as a word book, and innumerable examples might be given to show how full and brilliant is the treatment to which Tue Century submits each word in our vocabulary. But as its sub-title (An Encyclopedic Lexicon of the English Language) suggests Tue Century is not content to meet simply the literary needs of the enquirer. True, it represents the word in all possible lights, its spelling, pronunciation, origin and history, and it supplies a definition which is calculated at once to be comprehensiblo and to bear the test of searching examination. But at this point Tub Century takes a new and most helpful course, for recognising that words are only the token by whioh we represent objects, The Century goes beyond the word to the real thing behind it, and supplies cyclopedic information about that thiDg, while the Atlas Volume (X.) wives facts and data never before shown fn any work of reference. For the convenience of purchasers of The Century Dictionary & Cyclopaedia & Atlas a special bookcase has been produced, and will be supplied by “The Times ” upon receipt of an order or remittance, as indicated 'in another column. The case occupies a floorspace of 29in, by 13in., and the top reaches a height of 29in, Substantially made from native woods, and carefully finished, this case is at once handsome, durable, and light in weight. Its purchase is optional, but it is a great convenience in the use of the books, as well as serving as a protection to the volumes when not iu use,
