TRY TO MURDER A CONSTABLE,

A gang of larrikins, resenting Constable Bartlett taking up his residence in the street they frequented at Brunswick, proceeded to tho house, armed with crowbars and bricks. Constable Bartlett was stauding at tho gate, and ono of the mob hurlod a briok in the constable's face, fracturing tho skull in two placos. Tho constablo is in a critical condition. A youth named Stubbledy has boon arrested.
