Per Press ASHBURTON, last nigh

An inquest was held this afternoon relating to the circumstances .attending the death of Janet Rattray, killed on Monday in a trap accident on Ashburton traffic-bridge. After hearing evidence, the jury, without retiring,, returned a verdict that deceased was accidentally killed by the. overturning of her cart, caused by the horse shying at timber stacked on the bridge, apparently for repairs, and added, the following rider :-r(aJ The jury strongly condemns the practice of leaving timber stacked on a bridge; (b) recommends that all repairs on the bridge be done Between the hours of 7 p.m. and 7.30 a.m., the bridge to be closed meanwhile (c) that a fixture of some [description be placed alongside the railings to prevent wheels mounting the railing.
