R.M.S. IONIC.

The Shaw-Savill steamer lonic, 12,231 tons, arrived from Pieton yesterday mornin". She is a sister ship to the K.M.b. Corintbic, and is beautifully appointed. She accommodates seventy first-class, ninety second-class, and four hundred third-class passengers. Her cabins are furnished in a very elaborate style, and are built after the “ Bibby ” type—that each cabin, whether inside or outside in first or second-class, havo a sido port- hole. The cabins aro exceptionally roomy, and are heated with radiators. Sho left London on January 17, a full ship, and experienced a fine trip to the Cape, but | after leaving that port passengers had the opportunity of appreciating the sea going qualities of one of tho leviathans of the White Star Line, for heavy weather was experienced until a few hours beforo arrival at Hobart, which was mado on the February 28, and discharged a cargo of about 300 tons, after which she proceeded to Wellington, all well. Lieut. J. B. Hansom, R.N.A., is in command, and his officers are as follows Messrs J. Kerney, 8.N.A., chief officer ; J. G. Wood, R.N.A., first officer; J. W. Biulw, 8.N.j1., 2nd officer; H. Watkin, R.N.A., ord officor ; D. Williams, R.N.A., 4th officer ; B. J. Large, R.N.A., purser ; G. 11. Bell, surgeon; W. Gibson, chief Btoward; G, McLennan, chief engineer ; H. R Owen, R.N.A., 2nd engineer; J. W. Golding, R.N.A., 3rd engineerW. Anglesoa, R.N.A., -Ith engineer; H. A. Douglas, sth engineer ; A. Morrison, Gth engineer ; W. H. Stnbleford, chief refrigerating engineer; W. Campbell, 2nd refrigerating engineer ; F. Lutson, electrician. The steamer will load at this port about 9000 carcases mutton, 100 casks tallow, and 200 bales wool. She will leave this evening for Napier, thence to Lyttelton, aud will finally leave the colony from Wellington on April 16th. Messrs Dalgety and Co. aro tho local agents.
