Mr Heed, acting for compiaiuauts, re forred to tne question asked ol wituesss by the Chairman of tne Commission on Friday as to wnetner the takiug of a claim ot enrolment to Mr Maseheiu (Opposition candidate) after the issue of tne writ was not intended as a trap. Mr Heed said that the newspaper reports (the correctness of which was not disputed) had given some people the impression that Mr Haseldeu had intended to condemn the action, although he (Mr Heed) did not gainer that impression. Mr Haseldeu said that he did not intend to either coudemn or approve the action, and that perhaps “ test ” would have been a better word to use than " trap. 1 ' The Commission adjourned until Monday.
