Invorcargill, last night. Shortly bef ire 2 o'clock this morning a firo broke out in the principal block at the Bluff, destroying the premises of Moffot (chemist), Price (draper), Matherson’s boarding house, the Club Hotel, the offices of Ward and Co., the Dairy Supply Company, and the Bank of New Zealand.

The new Harbor Board offioes and the Post Office, handsome two-storey brick buildings, were also damaged. The insurances are unobtainable, but will run into thousands. A strong gale made the work of the brigade arduous. The insurances on the Bluff fire so far as can bo ascertained hero are: Club Hotel, totally destroyed, £1785 in the Manchester and £825 in the New Zealand; furniture and effects £IO6O in. the Alliance. Furniture in Scott’s, £SOO in the Alliance. Price and Bulloid's stock, £SOO in the Commercial Union. Moffett’s stock, £IOO in the New Zealand and £2OO in the United.

The damage totals between seven and eight thousand pounds. The Bank premises, Harbor Board and Post Office suffered but slightly.
