ALLEGED IRREGULARITIES.
THE AUCKLAND ENQUIRY.
By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, last night. At the inquiry into the charges against John King, Registrar of Electors, Mr Spedding, representing the temperance party, stated that when the main roll was issued early in November he found that of 426 names he had sent in for the City up to the week before the issue of the roll 380 had not been enrolled ; for Grey Lynn, of 150 names he had sent in 126 had not been enrolled ; for Eden, of 108 names sent in, 95 had not been enrolled. King subsequently explained that it required time to arrange the names for printing, and that they would appear on the supplementary roll. He visited the Registrar’s office immediately after the issue of the writ-, and could get no satisfaction whether the names were enrolled. When the supplementary roll appeared many names left off the main roll still omitted, Witness put in a list of claims, upon which evidence is being taken.
