NEW ZEALAND.

(Per Press Association.) NAPIER, last night,

The Shamrock Hotel, Awalolo, was totally destroyed by fire at an early hour this morning. When the fire was discovered, it had obtained a great hold, and there was no hope of saving the building. The licensee, J. McGlone, and his family, had a narrow escape. One girl, aged about twelve years, was seriously burnt about the face, arms, and chest, and was removed to the hospital. Two younger children were also burnt, hut less seriously. The building, which was owned by Robjohns’ estate was 'insured in the Norwich Union for £6OO, and the furniture and stock for £3OO in the same office.

WAIPAWA, last night. Mr Balhoiomew’s sawmill, at Takapauj was' completely destroyed by fire last night during a gale.
